Teaching Plan

Here is my teaching plan, or a rough outline of what my students and I will be doing during the lesson I will be teaching next week.
Audience: 10th grade Int. Math II Students
Group Size: 20
Time: 58 minutes
Equipment: Projector, white board, markers, student workbook, index cards 
Resources:  Visual aids
Setting: Students are arranged in groups of four where they can all see all visual aids and easily communicate with one another. 
Objectives:

Warm-up
Take roll, monitor student work


Complete warm-up activity, collect any necessary materials for the day
Make sure you are not blocking the visual.
Stand near students who benefit from proximity of teacher.
Remind students to stay on task and answer any questions.

Discussion of warm-up
Facilitate a discussion about the problems, correcting students as necessary
Listen
Take notes or articulate outcome…
Check for understanding
15 min.
Finding roots of functions
I will work through a problem on my own, describing my steps as I move through it. 
I will then work through a few more with student input and checking for understanding. 
Listen, take notes, share input, and ask questions

Keep track of time to keep lesson moving.

Guided practice
Monitor students working together, clearing up any misconceptions, pre-selecting students to share their answers, answering questions, providing the students with things to think about, roaming the room
Completing the problems and discussing their answers in groups.
Make sure everyone is working a contributing.
Redirecting as needed.
Make sure to assign problems that the students will present by giving them a marker and telling them which problem they will do.
If not preassigning problems, draw sticks to randomly select students.

Class discussion
Facilitate student discussion about the problems they were assigned by selected students to write their answers on the board.
Give explanations and clarifications as needed. 
Listening.
Showing what they know
by answering questions.
Taking notes as necessary.


Checking for understanding strategies
Redirecting as needed.  Keeping notes on learners’ progress and where additional support/
differentiation is needed.

Exit Ticket
Give students an index card. 
Write problem on board.
Collect exit tickets when students leave the room.
Complete the problem individually on the index card to demonstrate their learning from the day.
Monitor students using proximity.
Differentiate exit ticket as necessary for IEP and ELL students.
2 min.
Announcements & Clean up
Remind students of any upcoming events or tests.
Return all materials and pack up.
Collect exit tickets and skim as they turn them in, offering quick feedback as they leave.
